Hazel made such an emotional and moving speech on her wedding day. Here’s my account of it while I captured it all.
“The sun poured in through the large sash windows in the Woodhill Hall Orangery. Behind a table filled with fresh flowers, the light touched her dress in a way that made it sparkle.
She was surrounded by all the people she loved most in the world. She was blessed. With her parents on one side and her new husband on the other, she looked to her friends and began to thank them. They came all the way from Hong Kong to be there. They’d missed out on the last 11 years of growing up together.
As she spoke their eyes filled with tears. Her voice quivered with every word. She had been reading from her phone but now her words were coming straight from her heart. She’d missed her family and friends so much but she deeply loved the life she had made here. She was speaking Cantonese but through the tears, we all knew what she was saying.”
