The Updated Ceremony Space at Lartington Hall

Brand New for 2024 – The Lartington Hall chapel has been renovated to have a fantastic mix of tradition and a modern vibe. The chapel is non religious meaning its a perfect setting for couples who prefer to skip a religious wedding ceremony and prefer to have a registrar like most other wedding venues, meaning it’s also a brilliant choice for same sex couples.

If you are looking to book your wedding at Lartington Hall you also need to reserve the date with a registrar to marry you. Two time slots are available for your wedding ceremony at Lartington Hall. You can choose either a 12:30 ceremony or a 2pm ceremony.

Darlington Registrar’s serve both Lartington Hall and Runa Farm. Therefore any preference on ceremony time for your own wedding ceremony will depend on if anyone has already confirmed their wedding date at Runa Farm and vice versa.

To check availability, you can contact the Darlington Registrars directly at 01665 602870 or at registeroffice@darlington.gov.uk

For 2024/25 weddings, there’s a £652 ceremony fee to pay to secure a Registrar with Darlington Borough Council. Their Wedding PDF guide can be downloaded here.

Like all wedding venues in the Apartment Group collection – the styling of the Lartington Hall chapel is so beautifully done that it doesn’t need any extra decorations to make it look good like you’ll often find in other wedding venues.

If you are looking to add something unique to your ceremony I’d highly recommend checking out venue styling professionals such as The Enchanted Florist,  Sprig & Thistle and Coco Luminaire.

Please note: Candles and open flames are not permitted anywhere inside Lartington Hall. Lartington Hall recommends using electric tea lights if you are wanting a candlelight effect during your ceremony or on your tables.

You can also book a musician like John Gatenby or Jessica Avinson to play during your ceremony or even create your own music playlist if you wish to. You’ll need around 10 songs to cover the ceremony and the one you chose for walking down the aisle should be at least 3 minutes long. At our wedding, we had a string quartet playing as our guests arrived and when my wife walked down the aisle. That was unbelievable!

At Lartington Hall your wedding guests should arrive a minimum of 45 minutes before the ceremony. Here are the driving directions via Google Maps.

On arrival, your guests will be greeted by one of Lartington Hall’s Master of Ceremonies who will direct them to the bar and reception area where they’ll meet all of the other guests before the ceremony gets underway.

Maximum guest you can have at your wedding ceremony at Lartington Hall is 90. That’s 80 guests seated in the Chapel and a further 10 guests standing on the balcony. You can have up to 200 guests on the evening!

An Alternative Ceremony Area at Lartington Hall

If the blue of the Chapel isn’t to your taste – you have a number of other fantastic areas, both indoors and out, to hold your wedding ceremony at Lartington Hall. My personal favourite is The classy and timeless Ballroom which is also the main function room where your wedding breakfast and evening party will take place.

After your wedding ceremony, there will be the drinks reception where you will have at least 90-minutes to mingle with your guests outside and get lots wedding photos with your photographer. During this time The Ballroom can be changed from a wedding ceremony setup into a dining room, ready for your wedding speeches and meal to take place.

At Lartington Hall, the Speeches usually take place first at 4pm, swiftly followed by the Wedding Breakfast. Average total time for this is about 2.5 hours.

Did you know that all wedding venues in the Apartment Group collection are the exact same price?!

Yes! It’s True! You can choose the exact venue which meets your style and wedding theme without having to worry about if one venue is better than the other.

Each of the Apartment Group wedding venues has it’s own charm and appeal and they have set their pricing so you don’t have to let price be your driving choice of venue. If the grand and elegant Lartington Hall isn’t for you – You may find The Croft, Le Petit Chateau, Newton Hall or Runa Farm is more your style.

Lartington Hall is Dog-friendly!

One aspect I truly appreciate about Lartington Hall is its welcoming attitude toward furry companions, making it an ideal dog-friendly wedding venue where you need not part ways with your beloved four-legged friend. Your canine companion is not only invited to stay with you on the eve of the wedding but is also welcome throughout the entire celebration. While some wedding venues claim to be dog-friendly, it’s crucial to delve into their specific regulations. Fortunately, at Lartington Hall, the atmosphere is notably relaxed, allowing your furry friends to explore both the interior and grounds without any constraints.

For those who prefer not to have their dogs attend the wedding at Lartington Hall, alternative options are available. Wishbone Weddings presents a VIP personalised chaperone service tailored for your dog. This comprehensive service entails pick-up, walks, playtime, pampering, and overall care for your canine companion throughout the wedding day. Additionally, they offer the convenience of dropping off your dog at a predetermined location. With prices starting at just £150, it’s certainly worth considering this option for a worry-free celebration!

The Stable Cottage for the Perfect Night Before

@carnpatrick

Imagine a little party here with all of your besties the night before your wedding 🤩Perfect for those Summertime Pre-Wedding preparations #preweddingideas #weddingvenue #weddingpreparations #lartingtonhall

One of my favourite things about Lartington Hall is The Stable Cottage that is provided for all of your night before preparations.

The Stable Cottage currently has 5 double bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 guests. There are even more bedrooms on the way soon! The Stable Cottage costs £950 and is available for check in at 5pm the evening before your wedding.

It’s the perfect place for a little pre-wedding party as you’ll have the open plan terrace for some summertime drinks and dancing. If you prefer to relax and chill the night before your wedding there’s two large and cosy lounges on opposite sides of the cottage to kick back and relax. IF you don’t have a huge wedding party you could easily split the cottage in half and have one side for the bridesmaids and one side for the groomsmen! Overall I think its an incredible space that you won’t find elsewhere. Make sure to watch my video above! It’s a 10/10 from me!

Lartington Hall, like all Apartment Group wedding venues, provides couples with a variety of fabulous feasts and food choices. Most opt for a traditional 3-course meal, but there’s flexibility to add more courses. The venue offers unique options like Greek Feasts, Asian Feasts, Stellar Seafood and extravagant 9-course menus. Exciting new additions include Breakfast Arrival Bites, Pre-Dessert Cocktails, and Sharing Desserts and Starters. I’ve not seen these options offered at other wedding venues I’ve worked at.

Please Note: Lartington Hall does not allow outside catering or corkage but you can pay a little extra to bring your own little bottles of alcoholic wedding favours for your guests.

Lartington Hall is the Perfect Wedding Venue to Throw a Huge Party!

Once you’ve polished off that delicious meal, We can head outside for some fantastic sunset photographs together. Meanwhile, the fantastic folks at Lartington Hall will be transforming the Ballroom into the perfect backdrop for cutting your cake, having that unforgettable first dance, and launching the party into full swing!

Now, here’s the fun part – it’s your show! You get to decide how you want to rock the celebration. Fancy adding a touch of enchantment with our Magical Mist during your first dance? Lartington Hall has got you covered! And hey, if you’re in the mood for some extra pizzazz,  Think about adding a stellar DJ and a photo booth to kick the party up a notch!

You can see a full list of Lartington Hall’s Party Extras here

No need to feel tied down to the venue’s recommend vendor choices! Lartington Hall is all about letting couples run wild and stamp their own vibe on the party and evening festivities.

If you’re on the lookout for musical wonders, check out AMV Live Music Agency. They’ve got an incredible array of wedding bands and solo artists that can truly set the stage for a memorable night. Personally, I’ve witnessed Hip Hop Hooray totally owning the party scene – they’re a fantastic choice, but of course, it all boils down to what floats your musical boat!

It’s worth noting that there are no disco lights in Lartington Hall so I’d recommend hiring a DJ who can give you that party atmosphere.

If you’re on the hunt for a seriously awesome DJ who brings a breath of fresh air to the whole wedding DJ scene (you know, steering clear of the cringe-worthy vibes), look no further than The Beat Boutique! Seriously, they’re top-notch, and you won’t find any of that cheesy wedding DJ stuff with them.

But hey, we’re lucky to have some stellar options for top DJs here in the North East of England. Give a nod to Bride & Groove and Steven Maddison DJ – they’re definitely worth checking out too! Choices, choices – the hardest part is picking which amazing DJ will spin the tunes for your special day!

Bring on the confetti cannons! They’re totally embraced in the Ballroom at Lartington Hall and make for an epic start to the festivities, not to mention some stunning snapshots of your first dance. Now, here’s the lowdown – just a heads up, there’s a cleanup fee of £30 (yeah, a bit of a bummer). But hey, let’s make sure you get every bit of magic out of those confetti cannons, right? Worth every penny for that picture-perfect moment!

Fireworks, sparklers and Chinese lanterns are not allowed at Lartington Hall due to the rural location, noise restrictions and negative effects it would have on neighbouring livestock.

For couples intending to include guests exclusively for the evening segment, it is recommended to designate a 7 pm arrival time for evening guests. Typically, the ceremonial cake cutting by the bride and groom occurs at approximately 7:45 pm. This timeline allows guests an opportunity to socialise, procure beverages, and engage with other attendees prior to the commencement of the first dance and subsequent evening entertainment.

Lartington Hall kindly requests that provisions be made to accommodate all evening guests with food. They present a buffet-style evening meal for everyone around 9 pm, right after an hour of hitting the dance floor.

Just like the main Wedding Breakfast menu, the options for the evening feast are seriously impressive.

From what I’ve observed at weddings, the top crowd-pleasers are Fish & Chips and Hog Roasts. They never fail to delight guests and serve as the perfect alcohol absorbers, ensuring the party can keep on rocking a little longer! 🍽️🎉

Click here to download Lartington Hall’s Epic Evening Food Menu

Prices start at £14.95 per person and you must cater food for all of your evening guests.

Quick Maths:

Prices for Pizza or Pimped-Up Fries in the evening is £18 per person so for 100 wedding guests the total works out at £1800.

The party wraps up at midnight when the bar shuts down. If you’re not crashing at Lartington Hall, it’s time to head out. You can pre-book your taxi with local and reliable firm – Alan’s Taxi’s. Call them on – 01833 695860

Now, for the night owls staying on-site, grab a coffee or nightcap. You can totally take the party up to your room if you’re up for it. Keep the good times rolling in the comfort of your own space!

A Sample Timeline for a Perfect Wedding Day at Lartington Hall

8:00 am - Hair & Makeup

My Pro Tip: Make sure you're one of the first to have your hair and makeup finished. Letting your girls go first may seem like a good idea but if you happen to have a bad hair day you don't want to be last in the queue and feel like time is running out. Get done first and you can start the day off right. You can always have a touch-up if needed.

11:30 am - Guests Arrive

Tell all of your guests to arrive at least 45 minutes before the wedding ceremony.

12:30 pm - Ceremony Starts

My Pro Ceremony Tip: When walking down the aisle try to keep a steady pace and keep your head up. Look around the room - breathe it all in enjoy the moment.

1:00 pm - Drinks Reception

For me, the Drinks Reception is one of the best and most exciting parts of the wedding day. You've just been married, everyone is so happy and there are so many people to see and speak to. My Pro Tip for the Drinks Reception is to give yourself at least 2-hours to enjoy it all before you sit down for your meal.

3:30 pm - The Speeches

Whilst the staff are seating your guests for the Meal & Speeches, I'll whisk the two of you off for some beautiful photographs. You'll enter the room to a huge round of applause. My Pro Tip here is to go straight into the Speeches - You'll have the undivided attention of everybody in the room. If you have your speeches after the meal chances are it won't have the same atmosphere.

4:00 pm - The Wedding Breakfast

Get ready to be spoilt! Lartington Hall has some of the best wedding food options in the whole of the North East. My Pro Tip - Make sure you eat something. When you get married your adrenaline will be through the off and will stay like that for days. One huge regret I had from my own wedding was that I didn't really eat any of the amazing food I'd paid so much money for!

6:30 pm - Time Together

Once the Meal is over this can be a perfect time to have a little breather and spend some time together. Chances are that you've not even had much of a chance to talk to each other for most of the day. 7 pm is usually an amazing time of day for photographs as the sun starts to set in the sky. I'm always up for taking a little walk in the gardens and capturing some gorgeous photos of you two from a distance while you have some alone time.

7:00 pm - Evening Guests Arrive

The max capacity for guests at Lartington Hall is 200 so you have the opportunity to invite more guests in the evening. Just remember that if you do invite more people you'll need to accommodate them with food when the evening buffet starts later on.

7:45 pm - Cut The Cake

Once your evening guests have had a chance to mix in with everyone else its time to cut your cake. Pro Tip - Remember to eat a little bit! We went on our Honeymoon the next day and never had a single bite! Gutted!

7:55 pm - First Dance

Okay, for most couples first dances can often be a little awkward. While I'm no dance instructor - I've certainly got a few tips to help you get through it in style and if you don't feel up to being in the spotlight - plan a first dance song that everyone can get involved with!

8:00 pm - DJ/Band Starts

Immediately after the first dance you DJ or Band will usually get right underway. If you're looking for a top-class DJ I would highly recommend booking Bride & Groove. That's who I had at my wedding and they ALWAYS get the party going! You can tell them what your style of music is and they'll mix a full-on, nightclub-style DJ Set for you

9:00 pm - Evening Buffet

Get ready to be spoiled even more. Lartington Hall offers an amazing array of epic evening food for your guests. Perfect for soaking up some of that alcohol and fuelling the rest of the party.

9:30 pm - The Party Continues

Need I say more? The photography has usually stopped at this point of the wedding day which means your guests can go crazy without there being any professional evidence of their wild antics.

12:00 am - The Bar Closes

Midnight is the time the main party comes to an end at Lartington Hall and if your guests are not staying there overnight they will sadly need to leave the property. If you're feeling like you don't want the party to end you can continue the celebration until 2am!.
